EVe launches fast charging points under first EV charger deployment contract.
Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Dr Amy Khor launched the first fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Woodlands Civic Centre, deployed under EV-Electric Charging Pte Ltd (EVe)’s first fast charger deployment contract for HDB commercial complexes and other public carparks.
The dual gun 120 kW EV Charging Points at Woodlands Civic Centre are part of the first two contracts awarded to qualified EV charging operators. These two operators, Volt Singapore (the EV charging solution provider under Keppel’s infrastructure
division) and CDG-Engie, will deploy mainly fast chargers across 20 HDB commercial complexes and other public carparks. Out of these 20, Volt Singapore and CDG-Engie plan to roll out fast chargers at eight more HDB commercial complexes by March 2025.
The deployment of these fast chargers is the first phase of the Government’s plan to install about 120 fast chargers at approximately 60 HDB carparks in commercial complexes, town and neighbourhood centres, and JTC industrial premises. This will
especially benefit drivers of high-mileage vehicles, such as fleet, taxi, and private hire drivers, as they may need a quick mid-day charge of their vehicles in carparks frequented by them.
CEO of EVe Stephanie Tan said, “As EV adoption grows, the need for readily available charging infrastructure becomes increasingly crucial. By partnering with qualified EV charging operators that have the capability to deliver fast and safe charging options, we’re removing barriers to EV adoption. This fast charger deployment is just the beginning—EVe is committed to work closely with our partners to accelerate the rollout of EV chargers, providing greater convenience for our motorists.
Mr Lim Yong Wei, Executive Director of Volt Singapore, said, “Keppel is pleased that Volt is among the first to deploy and operate fast EV charging points under the inaugural contracts awarded by EVe. This will help to bolster adoption of EVs in line
with the Singapore Green Plan 2030. We look forward to working closely with our stakeholders in broadening the nation’s network of chargers.”
